Raglan is basically just one big playground with heaps of outdoor activities including horse riding, kite surfing, kayaking, (regular) surfing, mountain biking, hiking, golf, fishing, stand-up paddle boarding, rock climbing, swimming, etc.
Want to just chill out? We’re good at that too. Lounge in one of our hammocks, soak up sun in the courtyard, relax in the spa pool, or finish off that book you’ve been lugging around. Headed to town? — check out one of the 7 art galleries in town, drink coffee from Raglan Roast (batch-roasted right here in Raglan) or explore the unique shops and cafes.
See the pictures below!
Launch from our front lawn into the beautiful Raglan Harbour. Explore our pancake rocks and limestone coastline with an ocean kayak (smaller kayaks are free to use, ocean kayaks start at $15/hour/person).New this year, we have stand up paddle boards for rent as well.
We love surfing! It’s definitely a big deal in Raglan and most of our guests give it a try while here. Check out the surfing in Raglan page for more details.
Mt Karioi is a 5 hour return hike, and is the only west coast mountain that has native bush from the summit to the sea and the views from Te Toto Gorge are breathtaking.
Our mountain bikes are $5 per hour to use, explore Raglan and enjoy the exercise!
We have well-loved fishing gear which are free for guests to use. There is no need to get fishing permits for ocean fishing here, just buy some bait and try your luck!
Raglan has a wonderful golf course (complete with sheep) , only $20 for 9 holes. We have a set of clubs at the hostel free to use, or you can rent some at the clubhouse.
Yoga and Massage
We offer $10 yoga classes on tuesday and thursday and sunday, unless the yoga teacher is on holiday! And there are several other teachers within walking distance of the hostel (schedules vary from month to month). We are blessed with HEAPS of massage options in Raglan, perfect to relax after a day in the surf.
